It Happened at the World’s Fair…of Money

Or should I say it will happen next week when the World’s Fair of Money kicks off at Chicago’s Donald E. Stephens Convention Center. The event is more than simply an excuse for me to make an obscure reference to an old Elvis Presley movie in this article’s title but is agreeably the largest event of its kind for coin collectors and dealers alike. This show is presented annually by the American Numismatic Association and, according to the program, is expected to include…

…more than 1,200 of the world’s best coin dealers, great educational programs, family activities and, of course, the ANA’s signature feature: The Museum Showcase, with exhibits from the Smithsonian Institution, the Edward C. Rochette Money Museum and private collections. Mints from around the world will give visitors a chance to collect coins from five continents…

The American Open Currency Standard will be making their first appearance at the event and will make available a wide selection of pieces from their catalog including the increasingly popular copper line of custom medallions.
